Ready to hoop like a pro right in your own driveway? If so, then the Spalding Arena View basketball system should be your number one choice. This premium hoop is top-notch and re-creates the feeling of playing in a gym, hence the name “Arena View.”
From a professional breakaway rim that can handle most any jam to a monster support pole that eliminates vibrations, this hoop is a force to be reckoned with. If you’re serious about your game and want a hoop at home that will help you simulate a real game, the Spalding Arena View is your new best friend.
It’s not often that you see a hoop with a regulation sized backboard unless you’re in a gym. On the Spalding Arena View, that is exactly what you’ll find. The backboard comes in two options: acrylic or tempered glass. The acrylic option is slightly cheaper and more durable but tempered glass is far superior in terms of performance. We would recommend the latter in order to complement the incredible stability of the rest of the hoop.
Meanwhile, the 72” backboard is framed in steel and is lined with padding on the bottom. This provides security and safety for players. If you value safety, this is a great addition.
In terms of performance, the backboard options are incredible. We love the larger size of the window. You can practice putting some English on the ball like Kyrie and spinning in acrobatic trick shots far away from the square. Or, become a master of layups on a backboard that won’t wobble in every direction when you put the ball up.
If there’s one drawback to the Spalding Arena View system, it is the assembly. Unfortunately, this is a necessary evil if you want to reap the rewards of high-performance from this hoop. Due to the system’s huge size, installation will likely be a three or four person process. It will also take a significant amount of time to maneuver the large pieces and ensure everything is in place.
The system does come with a ground tube anchor kit and a hinging base plate to help with assembly, but it is still a process. If you aren’t handy, you probably want to consider paying for professional installation on this one.
We can’t say enough good things about the rim on this hoop. Unless you’re Shaq, you don’t ever need to worry about the backboard breaking on you. Even then it probably wouldn’t budge. The professional-style rim is designed to withstand whatever you throw at it.
Thanks to an incredible support system, even hanging on the rim after a dunk isn’t going to hurt it. While we don’t recommend this, it is nice to know that your driveway hoop isn’t going to fall apart the first time you dunk over your kid.
For those that are vertically challenged, the rim also offers consistent bounce on jump shots. Unlike cheaper hoops that might leave the ball bouncing wildly or deadening on impact, you’ll get consistency from this rim every time. Three-point land is very much open thanks to this rim (and a lucky shooter’s touch).
The true highlight of the Spalding Arena View is the support system. It is truly unlike anything else you can get. If you’re looking for the premium home basketball hoop, you’ve found the holy grail. The one-piece, 8-inch steel support pole is securely anchored into the ground. Since it is so thick, vibrations and movement is practically non-existent. It can 100 percent match up with a regulation gym system in terms of performance.
The Spalding Arena View also features Z-arms that extend from the support pole to the edges of the backboard to minimize vibrations even further. These extensions also make the backboard more durable and prevent it from breaking. Another feature that allows this hoop to simulate playing in a gym is the four-foot offset between the hoop and pole. This keeps players safe and recreates the feel of cutting to the hoop without worrying about smashing into the pole. Finally, the support pole is covered by stadium-grade padding.
Whether you’ve got little ones playing or older kids driving hard to the hoop, you won’t have to worry about injuries from the hoop.
